On a pool coupon you can cover more than one outcome per match:
- a single — one outcome, e.g. just 1
- a double — two outcomes, e.g. 1 and X
- a triple — all three
Every combination of your picks is a line, and every line is scored on its own. The thing to understand is that these multiply.
The maths, worked through
A ticket of 12 singles is one line. Add one double and you have two lines. Add a second double and you have four — not three.
| Your picks | Lines |
|---|---|
| 12 singles | 1 |
| 1 double | 2 |
| 2 doubles | 4 |
| 3 doubles | 8 |
| 1 triple | 3 |
| 1 double + 1 triple | 6 |
| 3 doubles + 1 triple | 24 |
The rule is simple: multiply 2 for every double and 3 for every triple. Four doubles and two triples is 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3 = 144 lines.
What that costs
Each line costs the pool's entry price. At GH¢1 a line, those 144 lines cost GH¢144. The builder shows the count and the price as you pick, and the server recalculates both before taking anything from your wallet — what you see is what you pay.
Why cover anything at all?
Because one ticket can win in more than one tier. Each line is scored separately, so a single ticket might hold one line with 12 correct and several with 11 correct, and be paid for all of them.
The art is knowing where to spend the coverage: on the two or three fixtures you genuinely cannot call, not on the ones you have already decided.
